I really want to go to Normandy but I don't got enough money. I would really appriciate it if you guys could tell me the cheapest way to get over there.

Try swimming...

But really, why would you want to visit Normandy ? Its empty, booring and...french....

Fancy having to eat baguettes with every meal ? I don´t...

But maybe living in the middle of some of the greatest battle-zones of world war 2 makes it loose some of its fascination...

Really depends where you live?????
If your in UK then get the ferry, if your in OZ then you could get a lift on a boat, would take you a while but mite be cheaper.
If your French you could walk.
My guess is your a American boy that thinks he's talking to other American boys
In which case your stuffed there is no cheap way :P

Normandy was awsom. REALLY awsome. but like 1 hour awsome. not alot to do, thou the green planes are kinda "funny " since they have these huge holes were the bombs droped. Some of the holes are so freaken deep and so freaken narrow its simply amazing. All these German bunkers going sideways half way into the ground. Really cool to walk around there.

But seriously, not worth a whole trip.

some of us happen to have respect to history and would like to visit the places that formed our partially free society that we have today

In what way did I offend you?
Im just tring to tell you how it was when I was there

What Im saying it that the beach is great and all but there's nothing much other than for a few other museums and a big american cemetary. Thats like going to Dresden just because it was bombed. Interesting? sure. But there are other places that are more worth a visit

I meen your not planning a visit to Volgograd (ex-Satalingrad) or to Saint-Petersbourg (after all they were under seige for 2 years and almost all died) now are you?

meen meen meen, you have no respect for history you vile person! :P

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but thats like saying a visit to Pearl Harbor is just about looking at some boat wreckage in the water and a bunch of names on a plaque. You need to approach these sites with a sense of reverence. You're on hallowed ground. That doesn't take anything away from Stalingrad or St. Petersburg as you seem to think. It would be the same in those places as well.

Whats so fascinating about visiting 60 year old battlefields ? I mean I practicly live in the middle of one.

16000 bombs have been defused in the area I live in the past 10 years, all dating back ot WWII. Now thats what I call a hot spot.

Still I wouldn´t find it perticuarly interesting. Most ex-battlefield really dont have much to offer besides a small museum somewhere nearby.
