About the downtime

Well, I just thought I might tell you that the site crashed while I was trying to edit my newspost.

Somehow the news-posting-programm crashed on me and after that I couldn´t reach BFN or the forums...

Hope it wasn´t my fault...

Just now? I was backing up the site and MySQL databases, so that's probably what caused it. If it happens again, let me know.

Ah right - yeah, it's all to do with the phpBB exploits, not your fault. Take a look at the Announcements forum at the top for more details.

I heard about the phpBB exploits, and was wondering if you guys had upgraded. Then the downtime came.

Aye, the main part of the downtime wasn't really down to us. It was other users on the server who had been exploited, causing the server to become unstable. But then for a little while at about 6am GMT the account was suspended as we were still using an old version. We upgraded and patched, and then all was well.

Nope, I was one of the founders of BFCentral. When we merged with BFN I joined their admin team - must have been about 7 months agoish.

BFcentral, cool, that was the site that realy got me involved in the BF communtiy. Didnt they merge with bf42.com though.

Many years ago BFCentral.com sort of died. However, BFCentral.org was then create about a year back - with most of the original staff - to try and relive the glory days
