Im getting the same error on patch. I read somewhere that it was a CD issue. I dont think it is cause I got it trying to install the downloaded version of SF expansion. I sent EA the dxdiag file and a help request. Lets see what they say.

reinstalled bf and same error comes back... lost my controls for nothing

d21storm: Please tell me if you find a way to fix this...

You do realise you can back up your controls? The .con file is in docs\BF2\Profiles.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.

I’m sorry for the difficulty that you are having with the game.

Remnants of an installation or patch are stored by Windows as temporary files, which can prevent the re-installation or starting of that program. These temporary files are normally created to temporarily store information in order to free memory for other purposes, or to act as a safety net to prevent data loss when a program performs certain functions. These temporary files however can trick the games installation program into thinking that the game is already installed, or that a patch is installed when the patch has not been applied properly. Because this can cause complication, it becomes necessary to delete these useless remnants to give your system a clean slate prior to launching or installing a piece of software. To delete your Windows temporary files, click on the link below for the operating system you are running:

To delete your Windows temporary files on Windows XP:

First you will need to delete the standard Windows temporary files:
Click on the Start button.
Click Run.
Type temp into the available text field and click OK.
Click on one of the files in the folder that just opened, and press Ctrl and A to select all of the files in this folder.
Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
When prompted if you are sure, choose Yes to All.
Next you will need to delete your specific logins temporary files:
Click on the Start button.
Click Run.
Type CDocuments and Settings\<Insert login name here>\Local Settings\Temp in the available text field and click OK.
Note : Be sure to specify your Windows login without the greater than/less than symbols, in the bolded area above.
Click on one of the files in the folder that just opened, and press Ctrl and A to select all of the files in this folder.
Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
When prompted if you are sure, choose Yes to All.
To delete your Windows temporary files on Windows 95/98 or Windows ME:

Click on the Start button.
Click Run.
Type temp into the available text field and click OK.
Click on one of the files in the folder which opened, and press Ctrl and A to select all of the files in this folder.
Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
When prompted if you are sure, choose Yes to All.

Default MD5 errors Battlefield2

Just a note for those who play Battlefield2 and are having errors.

It all started when bf3 crashed to a blue screen of death...This is my story in a nutshell.. I am a wannabe computer technician, i can build and administer all things pc related but constantly got errors when Bf2 was reinstalling. "MD5error" I tried everything possible, including new cd rom, reinstall windows, registry cleaners, all the forums and everything except get a divorce. Turned off all overclocking, checked for virii (sic) and you know what it was?

-------------- BAD STICK OF RAM --------------

took it out, went to 512 megs (swapped em both in and out) flawless install on the good one, errors on the second one.
Now i got another 512.. no problems at all. none. nada

Default Re: My Bf2 Gives me the wierd memory.dll eror

I get the same error on my system. Had nothing but troubles on the new PC

Shuttle SN27P2
AMD 3200+ (replacing with a 5000+ shortly as this is only a temp)
4Gb G.Skill DDR2-800 5-5-5-15
2 x WD3200 SATAIIs
Sapphire X1950XTX
Viewsonic VX922

Old box had no issues, was an old HP CAD from work. Mine fails exactly on 62% in multiplayer. At 62% in single it pauses for a few seconds then works. I've updated to Catalyst 6.10, no luck. I have all settings set to HIGH and AF at 2x and res is at 1024x768. If I up it to 1280x1024 which is my monitores native same thing happens and it also fails in single player.

I've cleared all the temp files etc but if I try and patch to 1.4 again it gives that Patch Failed error and BF is inoperable. I installed BF no worries, installing SP on top fails when patching. Following the manual install of doing patch 1.1 then installing SF works but then all the menus are SNAFU, the boarder of all buttons changes from that yellow colour to a rainbow colour and no pics are visible. Load a game and you get a nice grey background.

Way I got round it so I could actually play was after getting to this stage copying over the top of my install with a good working copy from my old PC (that had BF2+SF+EF+AF+1.4 all working fine just lagging like hell!) and it worked a treat in single but gave the same error in multi. I reinstall BF and it no longer works.

Well the reinstall using the default dir wasn't that successful, had same level of success getting SF installed as I did before. Unable to patch up either.

Good news tho? Recopied my known working version from a location I'd saved it too incase this issue arose again and cleared the Temp folders and it worked fine. Loaded into multiplayer this time tho, not just single player. Settings were 800x600 @60Hz, Medium everything and AF off. Upped the res to 1280x1024 @ 60Hz, rest the same, still worked so upped everything to HIGH and it still worked. Loaded up through Gamespy so that was great too.

Issues again? Yup, set AF to x2 and it failed, not at 62% Geometries this time but 18% Objects. Turned AF off and same result, cleared Temp locations, and it worked. Turned AF on @ x2 again and it worked, upped to x4 and again it still worked.

Now tho there are slight artifacts when you use any scopes, looking shadows of rotor blades on the choppers sides are still showing jaggies and when looking at trees there are some silver artifacts around the bases, also get some 'skin warping' when looking around. Doesn't happen on everything and doesn't hinder gameplay but still noticable tho. So driver issue or still buggy BF2? Using Cat 6.10.

Regardless I'm a lot happier now tho
