is elated the right word their, i don't know.
On a scale of 1 to TizIght...i give it a smigidy smearf ta da bearf. which is about an 8. I like the special forces games, such as splinter cell, covert ops, games like that. This is definitly not special forces. this is gadget forces, thats it. It is still the same or great amount of action than reg BF2. Sometimes, this game needs to be slowed down a little in order to create order between squads. now its just chaos, which is still a hell of a lot of fun. |

I read somewhere there were new unlocks with the expansion? Is all that still based on the point system?
So if I understand you right, they just added a bunch of gadgetry? Still on the fence about getting this or not.

What bugs me is that there's a continuing number of newbs to BF2, and just 5 months later...DICE releases their expansion pak. They did same with BF1942.
They must've crunched the numbers and figured the mathematical advantage to get the most outta BF2 sales by releasing an expansion pak at this time. I'm forcasting that SF doesn't please. Why? Because of how soon DICE put it out on the market, just like they did with BF1942 paks. |

I'd much rather see some awesome free patches with new maps like they did numerous times for bf42, then a half asses expansion pack. I just aquired special forces and am going to give it a try out of morbid curosity.

Well, I played it a bit for a few days now. It's not bad, about what I expected The new weapons are ok but not brilliant. The new vehicles are funny, I like them. The zip lines are kind of cool... when used right, you can surprise enemies by coming up from unexpected directions, which is fun.
The main reason I bought it was a much needed variety of new maps. Too bad the maps are in the same vein as the regular ones: urban warfare. I'd love to see different kinds of maps, like forests, countryside, or jungle style, or maps that are tailored for air warfare... The game types are the same as well: capture and hold flags. It would have been nice to see maps with actual objectives, such as a few DC maps. Blow up stuff, free prisoners, or whatever, that's the kind of thing specops guys do. One team defends the objective, the other team tries to take it. Makes for a more focussed game rather than just run around shooting, which isn't really what I expect specops to do. |
