Default Feedback on Special Forces

Hi, I was wondering if anyone here has got the new Special Forces Expansion pack yet and wether they could give us some decent feedback out it.

Anyone played it yet? Are you buying it on CD or download?

I went out and bought it on my lunchbreak today, and its been sitting on my desk just waiting to be played...I'm surprised nobody has posted yet about it. Too busy playing to post or just haven't gotten it yet?

I suppose more and more BF2 servers will be running the patch to switch
between BF2 and SF matches and we'll all have to get that latest patch?

Hey, after 3+ years, you're finally figuring out the whole "patching thing".

I was supposing we all will have to update.
I also supposed only those servers that want to run both SF and BF2 together will require patch.
How many will want to remains to be seen as it doesn't patch anything BF2.
Next few days we should know. It's just a simple patch to install...granted.

Well, just got done installing it. There was a note in the readme saying that once you install the SF expansion, you will not be able to play on an internet or LAN server unless they have also updated as well. So a word to the wise, don't buy it/install it unless you are sure everyone else will be doing it.

Other then that, this would have to be the WORST initial experience I have ever had with an expansion pack. Only four servers show up in the in-game browser and all have terrible lag. Yes, I changed my filter settings, and only four servers have popped up.

Went into single player and messed around with the zip line and grappling hook. At first thought, they were kind of goofy, but then it grew on me. Its pretty cool. Havent had a chance to mess with any of the new vehicles. Looks like there are different weapons too for infantry. Nightvision is exactly like CS, as a matter of fact, the sound effect sounds like it was ripped off from CS....

Anyone else pick this up, or am I the only fool so far?

**Edit** I guess you have to patch it already. Game comes out today and there is a patch you have to apply immediately. Go figure...

I bought it last night and installed it no probs, played the first map it was pretty good, i read somewhere where it comes with 8 maps, i dont remember seeing 8 listed, but ill have to check it again tonight, first impressions:

diffrent models and textures make it alot better, so youre not shooting at endless clones

grappling hook and zipline rock, great way to get from point a to b when you "accidentally" blow up your vehicle

nightvison mode is pretty good,

the "hazy" effect when sucking in gas or getting hit by a flashbangs is definitely cool, i think if they would have implemented a flashlight this would have also been cool to the opposing team when the enemy is tracing you with nightvision

thats all for now

It's out already? I got the download version (trying to find a physical copy of software like this is hopeless over here), but it says I still have to wait 1 day or so before I can play. What gives? Or is this another instance of us Euros coming in second after the USA (which would be par for the course for EA).

If you got the downloaded...DICE released a memo saying that some ppl got an error about key validation and it will be cleared up by tomorrow.

Still, I'd be pissed as hell about it. If I downloaded SF's, and got that validation error..I'd be so damn pissed.

DICE says you'll recieve an email tomorrow to fix it.

I got the email about the fix.... I don't get a validation error, the downloader says "waiting for release", and is counting down to tomorrow midnight CET. Must be a European thing.

I love it from what Ive seen so far! Loving the dark and NVGs and Flashbangs etc.

I dotn understand the new unlocks. I have 4 unlocks:

Medic
Spec Ops
Support
AT

So I thought I should autmatically get all the new unlocks for those classes (the ones that have new unlocks)? But instead, I only recieved two unlocks, so I grabbed the G3 and still have one left. So does that mean I have to earn the new unlocks one by one? If so, how does the SF v1.12 unlock/points system work?

Thanks for helping another noob!

Dunno about Gen 2 or above but if they are remotely like the NVGs I have, it would be more realistic if it whined the entire time...

It's like having a miniature John Kerry or Jack Thompson sitting inside your brain.

Certain maps seem to disable some of the weapons or only offer you certain ones. There was one map that I couldn't get the GP 30 on even tho it was unlocked, unless I was just experiencing something goofy. Maybe someone can confirm.

As for the night maps with NVG, I don't like them at all. They are great maps but would be much better in the daytime.... Maybe day maps with dark building interiors would be cool but the whole map night I don't like at all....

I think if you are SAS, you get all the unlocks, but if you are anything else, you have to earn and unlock them. I was the the night map with the plane on the runway and i had all the new guns but I was SAS. unless they were just new standard guns? im confused because sometimes i have the scar-L fir spec-ops, others i can use my unlocked G36C or the new G-36K.

I was actually sort of upset today after finally playing on a map with helicopters.

it said the Hind would be a transport and attack...but it only has 2 seats. So it is only an attack chopper. Nothing like the hind i know from DC
