Default [Battlefield: 2142] BF: 2142 Trailer

For the HTML version of this story, click here.

Not long after rumours circulated regarding a possible Battlefield:2 sequel, there's now what appears to be an official BF: 2142 trailer available on YouTube.

Although we've yet to receive an official word from EA or DICE, this looks very legitimate. If it is, we could be seeing a new Battlefield game by the end of Fall 2006.

Update: Searching through the PC Gamer Website I found a discussion about the latest issue (May 2006) and talk of the video being on the cd. Apparently in the General Gaming forum some of the subscribers have started recieving the May issue and coverage of 2142 is inside. Check out the thread (albeit a flamewar) here. -kook

Update #2: This trailer is now available in higher quality from WorthPlaying, GameTrailersand 3dGamers.

I hope it doesn't flop. It has some cool storyline going for it. Damn global warming

But I still want my fully destructable terrain!

Still looks very prototypey.

So it's no longer the fight for freedom, but for world domination?

They taunt me with that theme music at the end...

This looks fun, mech warrior meets BF1942.

Theme song was great! If this is in fact legit, good. If this was a community done mock-up, woww.

I remember seeing a mod with mech warriors looking exactly like that before BF2 even came out. It's in a PCGamer of mine. Stolen anyone?

I thought it might be for xbox 360, since it doesn't look that much better from BF2. But if PC Gamer is distributing it then its a pc game. Also way to got EA for releasing another BF game one year after BF2. Why don't we just call them Battlefield 2006, Battlefield 2007, and Battlefield 2008? This just looks like a mod, didn't really see anything new, and I hate mechs and all that futuristic crap. One last thing, the voice actor sucked, sounds like an emotionless robot (by George my robots in 2142 better have emotions!). Also, KShizzie, global warming melts the ice caps, the storyline for this game is an ice age.

Well, with the blunders in BF2 (patches? What patches?) and just a general feeling of Meh-ness for this release, maybe this is a good clean restart for EA?

Looks kinda cool.

Even if it does appear to be running on the same engine as BF2.

The voice over and plot was homo though, "oh noes teh ice has pwnt us"

Does anyone know who's developing this? Canada or Sweden?

Yeah I was thinking of another theory. It doesn't matter anyways, our planet is going to become like Mars in another thousand years.

Story line looks a bit weak. But I think it's cool that they're coming out with a game that has mechs in it. The BF2 engine is perfect for it. Now we just need a mod team to release one first!

Canada is just a small branch of DICE. They mainly work on booster packs and patch work.

And most notably the entire of BF:V. I was just thinking it may be a case of Canada being used to make a cheap quick game using an existing engine while Sweden worked on a proper sequel. That's what happened with BF:V.

Or they make full games like BF:V, To me it looks the same as BF2 as far as GFX go. I think it would be cool if they released it as an expansion or something that didint involve me spending 60 bucks on it

I think that Fall 2006 is WAY too early to be releasing it. I mean, take your damn time. No rush.
