[DICE] Battlefield 2142 - Fact or Fiction?

Shacknewshas an article regarding the next game in the Battlefield franchise.

In the comments section of today's Battlefield 2: Modern Combat interview here on Shack, readers seem to have figured out what exactly producer Dan Blackstone was talking about when he hinted at the future of the Battlefield franchise with the following answer: "3213/3X2. Or said another way: S.R. 4588164." In hindsight it seems obvious; the first set of numbers comprise mathematical operations equalling 2142. The second phrase indicates the square root of 4588164, which is 2142.

Additionally, users of the TotalBF2 sitediscovered that if you perform a WHOIS lookup on the domain battlefield2142.com, it returns contact details very similar to those of the other Battlefield sites.

When you add to this the prototype video entitled "Stella", which was "leaked" from DICE earlier this month, it looks quite likely that the next Battlefield game will be set in the year 2142.

I really dont see this being a bad idea. I just hope if DICE makes this game they make it right. They tend to make mistakes like this by letting out secrets. The game itself (if its being made) probably wont even be released for over a year. They tell the people and then the people get all excited so then they feel like they have to rush the game. Just take your time DICE!

Take you time? Shit man, just develop for 4 years or so, and then release battlefield2142 in it's 1.6 version - hopefully then, we'll get a solid game.

The animations of the units coming over the hill seem to be from Battlefield 2.

Those guys remind me of spec ops class. Either legit footage or a very good mod spoof.

Bring on the Transformers and other past adaptions too! Not.

The mechs had their time and series of games....entire genre.
They had their time and good play.
Future tech war game wise.... let's not go backwards to the future.

Also...those pics leaked probably have nothing to do with BF 2142.

More than likely they are just putting a heads up that it will be 2142 before the current game (BF2) is properly patched.
