[Battlefield 2] EA Explains Recent Unlocks

Some of you may have received a blankpopup in-game, similar to the one informing you that you've received a new unlock or reward. EA have informed us that this is due to the GameSpy server - which is in charge of handing out unlocks, ranks, etc. - being setup for the upcoming v1.2 patch.

"At some point in the next couple of weeks, you will see an empty in-game window pop-up, just like you received an award. This is just GameSpy detecting now that when the patch comes out you will get another weapon unlock."

As these new unlocks have not yet been added to the game, the window appears blank. However, EA state that once the patch is released you will be able to choose your unlock from the BFHQ tab, as usual. The reason they've started awarding the unlocks before adding them into the game is to ensure that the patch testing is as thorough and realistic as possible.

Have not run into this yet, recieved an award yesterday as well.

Only time will tell..Does anyone know if this is bf2 wide or require something specific?

i think it only pertains if you have special forces and/or have a high enough rank. My other account with a lower rank doesn't have the unlocks, but i haven't played special forces on it yet. I'll come back with a definite answer later.
