Nice article TNT!

I have to agree with Truman ash.
From years of mudding, and playing all sorts of FPS games as well.

Sure from time to time we all inadvertinately TK, thats a given, and an accepted hazard of this sort of game.
But there are people who do it specifically to cause problems.
They know it's wrong, and they do not care.
That's fine it's their choice to make, but they should accept the consequences of their actions, either good or bad.

There has been way too much, " it wasen't my fault, i was just bored", or "my roomie logged in on my account" or "I did not do it on this account, i did it on my spare account".
Screw it, you do it, you pay for it, period, accidents do happen, but intentionally doing so, should result in instant permaban, provided that
an acceptable way is found to verify that it was intentional.

I mean if they want a fragfest, they can setup a Dm server, but alot of people are just tired of a bunch of whiney buttmunches ruining _their_ relaxation/fun time, by being assholes.

Just my 2 cents.

No offense TNT, but you sound just a bit elitist.
Umm.. Guess I am one, unfortunately. I want to add that this article only represents my opinion about it, you are totally righted to critique it and I'd be most pleasant if you would ideas how can we stop the Teamkilling. It's been teasing us for too long, imo.

Truman, admin servers are a good option, I know that, it was a admin server which banned me from playing (read article for more before you misunderstand), though I was stupid enough even to do that when the admin i knew very well was there. However, they are relatively rare, at least right now.

Default selfish - the bottom line

Good article. I enjoyed reading it.

TKing on purpose for any reason is just damn selfish and closed minded. If you're bored, go kill the enemy. Or go play another, more exciting game. Or better yet, go find yourself a girlfriend. If you've had a bad day at the office ... again ... go take it out on the enemy.

Besides these 2 totally inexcusable reasons for TKing, I've heard people give other "justifications".

1) tired of the carrier campers
If guys are hanging out on the carrier jerking off for no good reason, then, yeah, they shouldn't even be in the game. But the carrier is there for a reason - to send out planes to deal damage to the enemy. If guys want to wait for a plane to make their team contribution that way, then why not? When I see our team's planes bombing the sh*t out of our enemies, I'm glad they're on our side.

2) that guy took the vehicle I wanted *waaah*
Stop being a crybaby. Everyone wants the vehicles. Your name ain't written on them.

3) some newbie nearly blew me up (or whatever)
Disillusion yourself of the notion that you're God's gift to the gaming community. You weren't born a pro. So why don't you take it easy on those who are only being what you used to be.

A simple analogy: if a guy on a soccer team is tripping his teammates because he's bored, had a bad day, or is pissed at other players, his teammates aren't going to buy him a beer after the game. He's not even going to last 2 games in whatever league he belongs to. And neither should he.

Yeah, perhaps the most annoying people are the organized team killer groups. I've never seen these people before..

Default Nice article

It was a great article and you said everything i think about those damn TK'ing bastards, I had one the other day and the only way I got him to stop TK'ing was me and the whole team ganged up on his crap ass and took him out. Of course he started with the sexual combacks and thats when it got funny, how did I lose him then? I laughed and begged for more even told him I should track him down just so I could keep him in my basement for jokes whenever I wanted, needless to say I said a lot of other bogus things but it sounded like somthing outta cape fear or somthing hehe it worked though, he thought I was a complete psycho and stopped totally after a few more comments. Anyway back to the subject, you wrote an excellent article and I applaud you TNT good work and keep it up

Banning them by their IP - so the user of that IP - the team killer in this occasion cannot connect the server in any circumstance.

Default No matter what

No matter what you do, there is no way for a computer to handle teamkills fairly. I say this because there is no way for computer to know if it was by accident or not. Therefore, the best way is an active mod... even then, it's hard to tell.

Default Tk'ers

I very well enjoyed the article. Yes I just got the battlefield game 2 days before release and they have just ruined the gameplay. Tk'ing in my book is bullshit but I am guilty as hell I have done more than a fair share of it and if I got someone reading this then Fuck You you probably deserved it. When I get tk'ed I let it go but if is the same asshole then it is the reponsibility of the whole room to FUCK HIM UP and get him to quit. I have done this and it works they leave the server lets face it the tker is probably some one that sucks on any game anyway.[/b]

There is one problem which probably causes some TK's

I've been teamswitched before and not realized that i was on the other team. I proceeded to think my team was being overrun and gunned down 5 teamates before realizing i was on the other team.

They need to make it more obvious that you've been teamswitched for balance.

The only prob i have with online gamers is stealing my vehicle when im repairing it. That chaps my ass.

Because if FF is off a person can get dubiously legitimate kills by dropping grenades at their feet to blow up opponents. Of course, you're not hurt by it since it's your grenade. I hate that, I think the penalty for someone lobbing a grenade at themselves should be their instant death. As for tk'ers, more people need to use the vote.kick commands to nip it in the bud.

Just my opinion of course. ;-)

maybe its just me but i'd rather have people on my team throwing grenades at their feet to kill the enemy surrounding them than people on my team killing their teammates in any way possible: up close, far away, with vehicles, etc.

before i go any further i should note that i dont have this game yet. i actually wasnt going to buy it after i heard about the staggering amount of hacking and bitch-style killing going on. now i know there are people like Truman (hopefully more) who are helping normal people enjoy this game. many thanks to these people and their efforts to ban these people, i'm sure this is pretty much a full time job!

i think bitch-style killers are nothing but internet assholes. they wouldnt dare act like this in real life, since someone's likely to beat the living hell out of them. so they turn to the internet and games like these, safe havens for anyone dying to let their true personality out. they even find other people like them to hold hands with while they try to ruin other people's games.

and if thats not enough for you to deal with, there are others who dont have a lot to be proud of in real life, so they turn to games like these, download hacks, and rack up wins without any effort. in their little minds, those kills were all legitimate kills so they gloat and make sure everyone knows that he "owns" you. so how's the hacking in this game? i'm not sure which is worse: hacking or team killing.
