Server Move: 17th April - 19th April

In the early hours of April 17th, I'll be closing the forums temporarily so that I can move them over to the new server (to avoid any posts being lost). Once that's all been verified, I'll then re-open the forums and begin the transfer of the BFNation domain to the new server.

This DNS change takes approximately 24-48 hours for most people. It's impossible to predict how long it will take exactly, but it doesn't really matter since both servers will be running from a single database, thanks to the earlier work. Therefore you can keep on posting as normal, even if your DNS hasn't updated to use the new server.

Unfortunately the move couldn't go ahead as planned. Hopefully it will be done in the next few days, but no promises. I'll post again when we're sure of a date/time.

Got everything I need. Forums will be down tomorrow morning (17th April 2007). All being well, the work should be completed and the forums restored by about 11am GMT.

Database moved successfully to the new server. Unfortunately you won't see much of a speed increase yet, since we're still on the old web server.

The only problem I've seen so far is that some usernames (those with characters other than A-Z, 0-9) have corrupted. If you drop me a PM with your username I'll fix it manually.

Anything else, feel free to PM me or email me: omgtehhax+bfntrouble [at] gmail [dot] com. The webserver move will be complete in the next few days, then the speed difference will be very much noticable

Now that the forum's been moved, we'll switch the bfnation.net domain over to the new server so that everything's running from there. At some point in the next few days, your ISP's DNS servers will switch to the new server and you'll start seeing it.

Forum and news posts are synced between the two, so nothing will be lost in the interim - just keep posting as normal. One day the forums will be slow, the next they'll be fast and you'll know it's changed : ).

I am noticing a large increase in speed as of now. There was some vBSEO error at first, though. Can't get it now anymore, but if I do, I'll attach a screenie.

Something about installing a module, I think.

Yeh, a few people have reported that. I think I know the problem so I'll try fixing it later today. Intermittent errors are the worst

We have taken some steps to remove the error message that occasionally appear, but it's hard to see if it's "fixed" or not when its an intermittent error.

If you see the error again now, please do post here and let us know, and we'll try our best to take further steps to remove it.
