Default Troubleshooting FAQ

This is a FAQ to keep this board clear of repeated questions.

1. Why do the characters on the menu appear as blocks?

Answer: Most likely it is because your video card isn't supported by the game. To play the game you need a GeForce card by nvidia, a radeon by ATi, or other T&L supported card.
Limited Budget: Go with a GeForce 2 or 3
Decent Graphics/Limited Budget: Radeon 9000 Pro or GeForce4 ti4200
Great Graphics: Go with Radeon 9800+ or GeForce4 ti4600+

2. The text ingame is blurry, hard to read, and dots doesn't show, why?

Answer: You've most likely got anti-aliasing on, which does this. Not a lot you can do to fix it except turn AA off in your display settings.

3. I have a pirate(Downloaded) copy of the full game, I have the crack, [insert problem here]. What can I do to fix this?

Answer: Go out and buy the full game. That will fix your problems.

4. I start a game(single or mulltiplayer) and it goes sooo slowly for a while, then it goes at a resonable pace. What can I do to make it go faster?

Answer: Buy more RAM. Check to see how many free slots you have and how much RAM you can have. Although it says 128 Meg RAM is enough, it normally isn't due to the fact that Windows XP takes around 128 to run itself. Your best bet is to get around 384 Meg RAM if you have Windows 98/2000/Me or 512 Mg RAM if you have Windows XP.

5. It takes forever for a map to load, almost everyone has started playing by the time I get into the game. What can I do to make it load faster?

Answer: Buy more RAM. Check to see how many free slots you have and how much RAM you can have. Although it says 128 Meg RAM is enough, it normally isn't due to the fact that Windows XP takes around 128 to run itself. 6. I just downloaded the [insert patch number here] and now I can't connect to some servers. What can I do????

Answer: Calm down, you need the same patch that the server is running. Most likely they are running the newest patch, so get that. If not just get the newest patch and use All-Seeing Eye to find a good server that runs your patch.

7. I can't play with the 1.3 patch. It loads a map and then it crashes to the desktop. What is a fix for this?

Answer: Try deleting your profiles, and then making a new one. Back-up your controls, first.

8. How can I back-up my controls?

Answer: Go to your Battlefield 1942 directory. Then go into the mods directory. Go into bf1942 folder. Then go into Settings. Open Profiles folder. Select the name of your profile(this is not your player name). Open that folder. Inside open the controls folder. Copy the four files and paste them somewhere else. You may now proceed with deleting the profiles or reinstalling your game. Just paste the 4 files into any profile to get your controls the same way you had them.

9. Where can I download All-Seeing Eye(Tool for finding servers)?

Answer: Go to http://www.udpsoft.com/eye/

10. I have two computers that I want to play on-line with at the same time, do I need two copies of the game?

Answer: Yes, 1 copy per computer
