Default Re: 4GB RAM?

Memory clock slowdowns aren't the cause of stutter in todays games with a good card, MB and 2GB's of onboard system ram.

When 2GB was king, and you wanted benchmarking to be the best, it used to be better to have 4 uniform- 512MB in 4 slots rather than 2 1GB's in 2 slots (of motherboards that took advantage of that).

2 GB of system virtual memory should be plenty and is not causing stalls in your game. What's more telling, is your video cards onboard memory capability and your cpu. How old is your MB? Vid card?

Cpu's and the memory on vid cards these days work closer together than in the past for gaming.

I doubt throwing in 2 more Gigs of system memory is going to cure the stutter.

If you're going to keep your present mb for awhile, and want a bit better multitasking, go for it.
Ya never know when another quake is gonna hit Asia, and memory prices skyrocket again.
Just don't expect 2 more gigs of ram to cure that game stutter.

Again I say, multiple memory modules need to be almost identical, spec wise, for such type MB's to even utilize them as the MB intends.
