He said 1942. Back in the day before the commo rose, orders were assigned with the two button combinations in the F keys. The first keys would stand for:
F1 = Answers
F2 = Request
F3 = Spotted
F5 = Confirm
F6 = Alarm
F7 = Order
Some common commands:
F1 F1 = Roger that
F1 F2 = Negative
F3 F5 = Enemy Submarine Spotted!
F6 F5 = Medic/Need Repairs!
F7 F7 = Go, go, go!
