Actually I do play the game....often enough to know it's shortcomings.
I think my rank is Master Sgt. Silver or something...5799 points.
Besides the lag and technical shortcomings...some of the gameplay design was
treated with half the thought put into BF1942 and BF2.
Allowing the Titans to hover over silos and have lazy asses sit in the gunnery seat all game long and rain down fire over a Silo is one dumb ass game design.
You can beg Commanders not to move the Titans too much, but they ignore you. They want to sit their lazy asses in gun seats the entire damn match. Also...moving Titan ships even before shield are down still lags the game somewhat.
Another failure by the BF2142 design team was not having leet players as gameplay testers. Most design team ppl aren't leet players.
That's why it's soooo easy for advanced players to sit in their Titan
access space vents and rack up 20 straight kills with det packs and APMs.
On 48 player servers...you just don't live long enuff to run across from
the oppisite direction and toss up a nade to kill that player.
Also, have you noticed that when you drop down into the vent..the
gamecode prevents your gun from firing for a second and a half????
The enemy can be standing there and start firing at you while you
are asking "WTF...I'm pulling my trigger but nothings happening...dead.
This is not lag either. Also...you can toss a nade...see it land..then be shot dead and guess what? That nade will never go off.
One problem with all this is that DICE and EA signed a firm deal to have the game out by such and such a date. This deal was made so far back during the early making of BF2142 that DICE thought it was enough time. EA held them to their release date commitment in order to boost the all important quarterly profit report. I blame DICE for underestimating their timeframe and
I blame EA for holding them to it. This game was released about 6-8 months too soon IMO.
