Default Possibility of 2 sound cards in one computer will work?

Okay here's my solution....

I got Battlefield 1942 and the sound got all geshtorpt (yiddish for screwed up). Sound was okay the first few seconds of the game it was well, then this really crazy fuzzyness mixed with screeching and scratching sound happened with any sound that happened in the game. The soundcard I was using was SB Live 5.1.

After that, I thought "okay, screw this crap, i'm re-installing my old sound card!". So I re-installed my old crappy soundcard and everything worked fine on BF1942. My old sound card right now is a CrystalSound Fusion card (a very old one) but it still works. But I wish I could still have my soundblaster 5.1 in there because now my SB 5.1 is catching dust on my shelf. And I can't use my SB card for my other great games.

So I was just thinking hey, why don't I just install both of the sound cards? I thought I would get an opinion from you guys.

Now I have a couple of questions about this.

1. Will this screw up my sound
2. Will I be able to switch the cards in the sound/hardware manager when I want to play BF1942 and other games?

And finally, my system specs:

Windows XP Home
AMD 1.4 GHz
768 MB Ram
40 gig HD
6 gig HD
GeForce 4 Ti 4200
CrystalSound fusion sound card

Now, I have all the latest drivers for all my stuff....so please give me your opinions on this, because I really want to use my Soundblaster card...it's been sitting on my shelf catching dust for 2 weeks now...
