I cry and laugh at the above tales. Laugh because it's true and funny. Cry because it's true and unbelieveably frustrating.
Wake was so bad it was almost frustrating. I was constantly attack by enemy planes, they seemed to ignore all other targets, just 3-4 of 'em vs little old me with a BAR. Hang on, no. Not a BAR. A bazooka. Because it's the only way your gonna kill those 3-constantly-respawning Jap tanks because your own side is too busy driving the only (rarely spawning) Sherman around in circles as far away from the true battle as is humanly possible. I know historically the US lost, but the Wake map is a joke. It's great MP, it's dire SP. I tried 3 times to win before giving up and going to get a cup of tea and letting my side get beaten without me. More satisfying I can tell you!
After only playing 5 SP maps I've pretty much decided not to bother with the SP campaign. I'll play the quick battles to get a feel for the map layouts and then go online. I strongly suspect I'll never bother with SP again.
Sorry, this is more a rant than a funny story. But laugh at me instead!
