Thanks for the reply. But I think I have not been totally clear.
I am actually using ONLY the joystick for flying (and I agree, the joystick is great). But I couldn't figure out how to enable the joystick from within the game - there is no option for it or I just can't find it. Can someone tell me if this option exists?
I use the external Logitech Profiler software to translate joystick movement into the signals that the game interprets as keystrokes. Problem is that the keystrokes offer no gradient equivalent for the throttle. For example, when I throttle past the mid-point with my slider, it's as if I am just holding down the 'W' key. There is no way to achieve, say, 70% power.

That makes it easy to just reach over with my other hand to change the throttle. Rudder control and everything is handled by the joystick, and you can set your views on the top button so there no need to use the keyboard at all. I guess it is just preference but I find this works well for me. I really really like this joystick
