I've had this idea of "secure servers" for a while. It seems like GameSpy is releasing their own Founder's Club servers but that isn't necessarily keeping idiots out.
Unfortunately T3 lines and the like cost's are the size of an elephant shit. If there's the support for it I don't mind getting some good connection to run password protected servers that only we (people who support the cause) can join. I won't need to heavily admin it because anyone who acts like a dumbass would be reported by about half the players and then they get the ban
of doom!!! I don't mind getting a system for running Battlefield 1942, even though it's around $250 it's a good system for anyone to use in the end. I already have a crappy 1.8ghz Celeron that could run one or two Half-Life mods and I may have an 866mhz computer available soon. It really comes down to if people would be willing to pay $5 or so a month for the cost of the connection. You'd get a bunch of different games to play and it's nicely admined. Just look at how much MMORPGs cost and tell me that's a bad deal.
I'd love to do this if there's enough people who would support it (PM me if interested). I guess I can always dream though.
