Category IconBattleGroup-Frontlines Update
Posted at 02:45:26 CST by K_Shizzle
The BattleGroup-Frontlines team shows off their Sdkfz 251 and many BF109 skins in an update today.

Today we have the Sdkfz 251C halftrack modelled by DaCrapper and Postman778 and skinned by Tha Godfather. We also have some ingame screenshots of some more skins for our Messerschmitt BF-109E4 which have been done by Postman778.

The Sdkfz 251 was Germany’s primary armoured personnel carrier in World War 2; it could carry ten troops or 1.5 tonnes of cargo and could also tow an additional 2.7 tonnes. The version C has a different nose compared to the previous two versions because of poor engine cooling which caused the engine to overheat. During the war there were many different versions of the standard halftrack (23 officially named) which performed a number of roles from artillery support to specialised versions for towing and radio communications.

Posted at 00:16:49 CST by melee
New version of the popular and classic EOD or Eve of Destruction Vietnam mod is out today.

EOD .41 seems to be mostly bug fixes and changes, but there seems to be a few new things added as well.  From the change log:

*Added*
*Added* M109 SPH
*Added* M163 Vulcan APC
*Added* Radar to Mig-21
*Added* Radar to F4Phantom
*Added* New Skin Texture Mig-17 Ground Attack Aircraft

Truely a great mod for BF42, pick up the new version from fileplanet, its 785mb, and they seem to be the only ones to have it right now.

Our friend -=NC=-Strummer has continued his duty in passing along regular updates on the BG42 mod's progress. This week has notes on both the Battlefield Vietnam and Battlefield 1942 versions of the mod and the progress associated with each.
Progress Report, Battlegroup42 for BF:V

Work on BG42 for BF:V is coming along nicely. We've created quite a few internal builds these past few weeks, adding new effects, animations and maps. We have, of course, been showing off recently many of the vehicles and maps that will feature in the forthcoming release. This week, therefore, we'd like to look to the future.

Firstly, with the impending release of BF2, you'll be interested in Gamers Radio Broadcast's interview of several mod teams, including the BG42 Mod. [ Available here ]

Secondly, we'd like to share with you some work-in-progress models being readied for future releases. We'd like to start with our new Sherman base model. We're very excited with this excellent model by DaCrapper and plan on building many varations of the Sherman.

We have also been working in the small arms department and have a finished Walther and a Sten model for show. Mr Arhipov has done some excellent skinning overtop Geronimo's Walther P38 model and Geronimo's excellent BG42 Sten model has received some skinning work by DauntlesDouglas.

Of course, we haven't neglected our well known strengths in the Eastern Front theatre and present some great Russian tank models by Koricus.

Battlegroup42 for BF:1942 Goes to Beta4

Battlegroup42 for BF:1942 is very near to a release date and is entering Beta4 which we expect will be the last round of testing. We have decided to combine the 1.1.1 release with the MOB Map Pack#1 and release as Battlegroup42 1.2. Our newly named BG42 v1.2 will come with a host of corrections, including returning the Tiger, Panther and IS2 turret and land speed to 1.0 speeds, considerable work fine tuning the AT weapons, and have further balanced many maps as well addressing some long standing issues.

The inclusion of the map pack will add new maps to BG42 including BG42-enabled versions of the EA map pack maps, versions of Berlin and Stalingrad with no tanks, and many brand-new maps created especially for BG42 by members of MOB.

PanzerSmurf has put together a short movie showing off some of the new maps for BG42 1.2 showing fly-overs of some of the features of the new BG42 1.2 Maps!
A short trailer displaying and demonstrating the mod is available in both quicktime/mov format, and windows media player/wmv formats.

Category IconThe Semi-Regular BFN42 Game
Posted at 16:38:32 CST by mrhahn

You folks know the drill by now. The forum monkeys, in connection with the IRC trolls have come up with another genius world-domination plan. We'll be hosting another frag-filled game of BF:1942 on our UK-based server (while everyone's distracted we'll seize power).

However, this time there's a twist. There's a change to mix it up a little with some mod-based play. Head on over to the discussion topic, where a poll has been setup to gauge popular opinion. It may be that we run a 2 hour session of vanilla 1942, followed by some mod play. Who knows - the decision is up to you, Joe Schmo. As usual, details follow this transmission:

Time: Saturday 1-22-05, 3PM EST / 12PM PST / 8PM GMT

This week's game is brought to you in part by NavalLord, and Coca Cola.
